Small Window into Colombia

These past two weeks I have had a big responsibility in preparing our little ones for our drastic world change to missionary life in a country they have never been, yet are duel citizens of. Our little family will be experiencing a huge cultural change in exactly one month from today (hoping Colombia doesn’t extend their international travel ban). I wanted to open a small window into the hearts and minds of our little ones of what a missionary is, why we are moving, and the fun country we are moving to. Here is a peek of all that we did.

Bible Time:

We learned what a missionary is, that we are missionaries, and that we are going to tell people in Colombia that Jesus loves them and wants to be there friend.

Sensory Play:

We did a lot of sensory play over the past two weeks. The girls really love sensory activities and it is a PERFECT for rich vocabulary and conversation time about topics that I want to focus on in a PLAY environment.

  1. We did a Colombian color pasta sensory where we learned the colors and meanings of those colors of Colombia.
  2. Efe Cafetero Tray Play: They learned about the coffee regions of Colombia and got to make some Tinto.
  3. Amazon Rainforest Tray Play: They learned about the amazon rainforest, the animals, and way of life for people there.

Fine Motor:

The Colombian flag paper ripping and creating and the Colombian colors spread (like us spreading the good news of Jesus’ love).

Cultural Play:

They learned about the Colombian animals, food, music, books, and instruments all through intentional play. Great memories of our first introduction to the Colombian culture!! If any of these resources interest you, please PM me and I would love to send them to you!! They are all made by me and I would love to share!!! Happy parenting and quarantining!!
