Definitely NOT!

So this week was NOT our week! I was in a funky mood all week with little patience and little grace toward everyone and anyone that came across my path. We have been so busy with appointments during the week representing the ministry to people and our weekends full of church presentations that our schedule, routine, and daily activities have been out of wack. This week I tried to implement some activities and she was only interested in a few of them. You know, I honestly DID NOT care. This week I was just not in the mood to play school. I planned Thanksgiving themed activities and had a six day plan, but ya know what, things happen, life happens! Both girls have been fighting hard core congestion and bad colds all week with difficulty napping and sleeping through the night because of their stuffy noses. So this Mama has also been running low on sleep. The great icing on the cake was an ER run because of Megan getting a second degree deep burn on her hand from touching a hot pipe that was not covered correctly from the radiator in the house. Poor baby! That was one of the hardest things we have dealt with as parents thus far. Praise God Juan was home and was able to stay with Emma while I rushed her to the ER! The Doctor said it will take time to heal and Tuesday the DR wants us to go see the burn specialist of NJ. I do have a few pictures of some of the Thanksgiving things that we did get to. I didn’t reinvent the wheel this week, I got a lot of ideas from Pinterest. I did create a few materials tonight that I will post since it is Thanksgiving themed and maybe you will want to use them. Here is to another week and another try at Thanksgiving books, themed activities, and crafts. Lord willing we will both be in the mood to want to attempt play-school after so much happening the last few days. I wanted to focus on Pilgrims and Native American type activities last week and then Thanksgiving and Turkey stuff this upcoming week, but she was NOT into it. So I just went right intoTurkey and Thanksgiving stuff that she was more interested in.

  1. Turkey feather fine motor for Emma and sensory activity for Megan
  2. Emma loves doing block patterns, so she did a bunch of Thanksgiving themed block pattern mats
  3. Number counting and identifying clip cards
  4. Emma helped me make lunch one day by helping me make pulled Turkey for some sandwiches
  5. Finger painting a turkey and the feathers

I did make two activities tonight that I am excited about. I want Emma to begin learning how to follow pictorial directions. So, I created this really fun pictorial directions Thanksgiving Table setting activity. There are five activity cards that she has to follow to put together different table settings. You can use real table setting stuff or I created one digitally also so you can print and laminate that for your students to use. Emma loved the fish size ordering so much last week, that I created a Thanksgiving themed one too.

Two of Emma’s favorite Thanksgiving books are One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims by B.G. Hennessy and The Night Before Thanksgiving by Natasha Wing. I have like a bazillion other Thanksgiving books, we will see if Emma has the patience for them during this second week attempt at them. Emma will be having her first Friendsgiving this Tuesday with her BFF and doing some fun Thanksgiving crafts with her. That should make for a fun post!!! We had our Life Group Friendsgiving at our house last week in the midst of the craziness, why not have one for a 2 year old… I hope you all have an incredible Thanksgiving with your loved ones and make the most beautiful memories this year. May the Lord bless all you do!
