I don’t know how, but God gave me a little extra time this week, so 95% of all we did was all Mama made resources. So lots of resources for you to download today! There is something about lamination and velcro that Emma and I are obsessed with. I can create her a laminated and velcro activity and it is like 45 minute entertainment. We had SO much fun, I don’t even think I taught the letter F which was one of the objectives for making all Rainbow Fish activities and reading all the Rainbow Fish books by Marcus Pfister this week. Total Mama fail on that! The best part of the resources I made this week, is that they can be implemented in both English and Spanish. Here is an explanation, free download, and a few pictures to see it in action.
- 1. Size Ordering with Colored Fish
- Emma learned the concept of largest to smallest by looking at the fish as if they were a family; Papi (largest), Mami (2nd largest), Emma(small), and Megan (smallest). With that personal connection she got it!
- She then ordered them into size groups.
I used a few cut and glue resources I found to reinforce the activity I made, but there are a billion of these size recognition and sequencing activities out there. This download is a great one!
- 2. Number Identification and Dot Counting
- In this activity Emma had to roll the dot dice, count the dots, and put that number of fish on the correct numbered fish bowl.
- She has been rocking at three step directions and activities so I am just rolling with it and creating activities that require a two to three step directions for her to follow.
- Papi also pulled this activity during one of his breaks and did it in Spanish.

- 3. Number and Letter Comparison
- In this activity Emma had to put the number or letter fish back in the correct number or letter water bowls. She got into this one, so did Mama :). This is a great assessment if your baby knows the difference between a letter and number.
- 4. Number and Object Match
- Using the goldfish spinner, Emma had to count the number of fish and put that number of goldfish in the correct number hole in the egg gallon. This is another three step directional activity.
- We learned first how to work the spinner by her having to eat the number of goldfish that she spun. Then we added the next step by putting the correct number of fish in the egg holes. Then we added the steps together.
- If you want to keep it cute and themish with the rainbow fish theme going on, use the colored goldfish, we only had the regular colored ones.
- 5. Rainbow Fish singing and art
- We of course had to have a song in our pocket chart for the week to go with our Rainbow Fish books. Here is a cute song and activity I got from another blogger, called Three Rainbow Fish.
- We also did some rainbow fish painting.
- 6. Alphabet Dot Painting on Rainbow Fish
- This activity is super simple, I would just say a letter or sound of a letter and Emma had to dot paint that letter on the Rainbow Fish. Great practice and assessment tool without her even knowing it! It also gives a little bit more intentionality in using dot paints.
I found a great Rainbow Fish activity about shape sorting and I made another resource about identifying things that are the same and different using shapes that we never got to. I hope you can use these resources somehow and that you are benefited by them. I know they were a lot of fun for us!

Love love love these activities. I’m already brainstorming how I can modify them for our Thanksgiving theme next week. I honestly thought some of the 3-step activities would be too hard for Gwen so I never tried them. Seeing Emma rock them, I’m excited to try them, too.
