First Shepherding the Heart, then Filling the Mind!

The Lord has been convicting my heart so much over the last few days regarding the unhealthy balance I have in directing Emma’s play. Juan has been gone this week and I have had to play Mama and Papa 24/7. It has been exhausting and let me tell you, convicting! I am seeing so much of my self-dependence and not turning to the Lord in some difficult toddler battles of the will. Talking to Juan tonight on the phone I began to see how much play learning I am focused on, but not Bible learning. Yes, I have incorporated Bible in my play plans, but to be honest it is the last one I actually really prepare and think through. I have got it ALL WRONG! As an elementary educator, I have allowed myself to get carried away in finding fun ways to include academic learning in our daily play and creating academic resources, that I have lost the MOST ESSENTIAL element in my role as a mom. Shepherding her HEART! As I was praying about this, I started to google fun Bible play. God brought me to a blog of a lady named Liz. She is in complete line with my educational philosophy for toddlers. We even use the same terminology!!!!!! You should check out her Bible resources, she created a curriculum called Play Through the Bible, which you can find here. She has published books with this material as well. Amazing Biblically centered resources!

I praise the Lord for other bloggers and Mama’s who can teach this Mama a thing or two, actually more like a million! Haha! We are all on this parenting journey, why not join hands and pray for one another as we embrace this incredible responsibility and privilege of shepherding our children’s hearts.
